Orion Area Parade Group
Groups representing local schools, dance studios, civic groups, competitive teams and more comprise the 75-plus entries into the Orion Lighted Parade each year.
The Parade lures young and old to delight in the twinkling lights, colorful floats, melodious bands, dignitaries, characters that make the Orion Lighted Parade come alive.
The Orion Lighted Parade is not over until our very special guest arrives by way of his trusty entourage. The kids delight in the fact that such an important man is there in person to share his holiday spirit in the Village of Lake Orion.
The annual Holly Jolly Folly fundraiser is held the night before the parade and brings out our generous donors to participate in a lively evening of entertainment, food and auctions.
Lake Orion, Michigan is the home of one of the only nighttime holiday lighted parades in Michigan. The event—sponsored, planned and coordinated by the Orion Area Parade Group (OAPG)— takes place the first Saturday each December.
Parade spectators saw a community that comes out in full force to celebrate the season. Floats and vehicles are brightly illuminated with an assortment of Christmas lights. Marching bands blare holiday music. Community groups from the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, civic organizations, dance studios, local dignitaries and school groups proudly strut down the street and wave to the crowds of onlookers. The parade is capped off by a visit by Santa in his resplendent sleigh, waving to his fans of all ages.

The OAPG is a fully licensed, non-profit corporation comprised of volunteers who organize and participate in our Holiday Lighted Parade in the historic Village of Lake Orion, Michigan. Our volunteers come from business and civic organizations as well as area residents.
